How local SEO puts you on the Calgary map

Your Google Business Profile, set up properly
Your profile’s categories, services, description, hours, photos and posts all affect where you show up. We fill in every relevant field accurately and keep it active.
If you work at customers’ locations rather than from a storefront, we set you up as a service-area business, hide your address as Google requires, and list the Calgary areas and nearby towns you serve.
Reviews and listings that build trust
Reviews are one of the strongest local signals. We give you a simple way to ask every happy customer for a review and help you reply to each one. We never buy reviews or post them for you. Our guide to getting more Google reviews explains why.
We also make sure your name, address and phone match across Calgary directories, industry sites and data aggregators, so Google sees one consistent business.

What is included in Calgary local SEO?
Every local SEO plan covers four areas, starting with your Google Business Profile.
We check your Google Business Profile, categories, service areas, photos, reviews and local rankings across Calgary, then compare them with the businesses that hold the top map spots for your searches.
We optimize your profile, add services and photos, set up posts, and tune your website’s location and service pages and LocalBusiness schema so both point to the same business.
We set up a simple review request process, help you reply to reviews, and build or clean up listings on Canadian and Calgary directories and industry sites.
We track map rankings across different parts of Calgary, calls, direction requests and website visits from your profile, and report monthly with next steps.

Calgary local SEO FAQs
Common questions from Calgary businesses about Google Maps rankings.
Why don't I show up in Google Maps for searches across Calgary?
Google Maps results depend heavily on how close the business is to the person searching, plus how relevant and well known it is. A business in the NE may rank well nearby but drop in the SW. You cannot change distance, but complete profiles, more reviews and strong local pages help you rank across a wider area.
Should I list my home address on Google if I work from home in Calgary?
No. If customers do not visit you, Google requires you to hide your address and set up as a service-area business. You can list up to 20 service areas, such as Calgary, Airdrie and Cochrane. Showing a home address that customers cannot visit breaks Google’s guidelines and can lead to suspension.
Can I add Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks as service areas?
Yes, if you really serve them. Google suggests keeping your total service area within about two hours’ drive of your base, and Calgary’s nearby towns usually fit. Service areas control where Google says you work, but ranking in each town still depends on relevance and prominence there.
Can I use a virtual office or mailbox address in Calgary?
No. Google does not allow virtual offices, mailboxes or co-working addresses unless you have staff there during business hours. Using one can get your profile suspended. If you have no real Calgary premises that customers visit, a service-area profile is the safe, compliant option.
Which Calgary directories should my business be listed on?
Start with the big platforms: Google, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Facebook and Yelp. Then add Canadian directories, your industry’s associations and Calgary-specific sources, such as the Calgary Chamber of Commerce if you are a member. Accuracy matters more than volume, so we fix inconsistent listings first.
How often should I post on my Google Business Profile?
Posting about once a week keeps your profile active and gives customers fresh information, such as offers, events or recent projects. Posts are not a major ranking factor on their own, but an active, complete profile with recent photos and replies to reviews tends to win more clicks and calls.
Do I need a Calgary page on my website for local SEO?
If Calgary is your main market, your home page and service pages can target Calgary directly. If you serve several cities, a dedicated Calgary page with real local content helps. Your Google Business Profile should link to the page that best matches the location it represents.
